Dublin's Public Transportation

Dublin Railroad Services and Heuston Station

Iarnród Éireann literally translates as Ireland's Iron Road. The iron roads of Ireland have been carrying rail passengers since 1834. During a fit of government stupidity, a number of local train services were discontinued in the 1960's, but these days the service is well used and a billion dollars has been spent upgrading the system.

There are three train stations in Dublin city centre. Connolly and Pearse Station serve the east coast of Ireland with a branch toward the northwest of the island. The South and West are served from Heuston Station.

And Heuston is just a short walk from Phoenix Park House Guesthouse!

Heuston Station not only provides train connections, but is the transportation hub for much of the west side of Dublin. You can easily pick up taxis and buses from the station. The City Centre buses leave Heuston every 10 minutes and take only 5 minutes to reach O'Connell Bridge in the heart of Dublin.

The Airlink Express bus service to Dublin Airport also serves Heuston station at 20 minute intervals right through the day and well into the night.

Heuston Station (St John's Road W, Dublin 8) Cork, Limerick, Galway, and Killarney Inter City routes and Arrow suburban services to Kildare.
Connolly Station (Amiens Street, Dublin 1) Belfast, Dundalk, Drogheda, Sligo, Wicklow, Wexford
Pearse Station (Westland Row, Dublin 2) Dundalk, Drogheda, Wicklow, Wexford
